Matt started directing in college with a production of Speech & Debate by Stephen Karam. Since then, he has continued to develop his work, looking especially toward new work and work that embraces the potential of simple theatricality. He has directed a number of world premieres; Principia Romantica (Kenyon College), Porch Play (StageFemmes), Pam's Key (The Arc Theatre), and Hostile Intent (Otherworld Theatre). He also adapted and staged Henry V while still in college. He has had the opportunity to work as an assistant at Theater Wit, Provision Theater, The Huron Playhouse, and as an intern at the Ojai Playwrights Conference.
